Green Plumbing & Living Tips
Sussex County New Jersey
Green Today.
Abundant Natural Resources Tomorrow..
More and more, the plumbing industry is responding to the global need and push to preserve our natural resources.
At Heine Plumbing, we’ve been at the forefront of providing and recommending solutions that are both eco- and budget-friendly.
Here are several examples of what we have to offer:
- Leaky faucet repairs. One leaky faucet alone can waste up to 100 gallons of water every week. We also supply faucets which comply with the EPA Watersense® program.
- Low-water consumption toilets. Toilets alone account for nearly 30 percent of indoor water consumption. Therefore, the toilet represents one of the greatest opportunities to decrease water consumption in the home. Older toilets use up to 5 gallons of water per flush. New toilets are required to use no more than 1.6 gallons per flush, and some go as low as 1.3 gallons per flush. Converting to low-water consumptions toilets will save literally tons of water every year.
- Showers: Our .5 GPM water efficient H2Okinetic® Technology shower heads provide all the pressure you want with significant reductions in water usage. Our pressure balance valves help to keep water temperature within a safe ±3° F, protecting you from sudden changes in hot or cold water pressure. Anti-scald technology is so crucial the National Standard Plumbing Code requires it in new installations.
- Clean Water: You may be using bottled water. Consider, however, the waste of water itself in the production. Todd Jarvis, PhD, associate director of the Institute for Water
and Watersheds at Oregon State University, calculalates that it takes about 72 billion
gallons of water a year, worldwide, just to make the empty bottles. Unfortunately, most
of these bottles, four of every five, end up in landfills according to Pat Franklin, executive director of the Container Recycling Institute, a Washington group that promotes recycling.
Our water conditioning equipment is engineered and designed to be environmentally friendly, giving you clean, pure tap water so you can forget the bottle.
More Green Solutions
- High efficiency electric and gas water heaters. Newer models are far more energy efficient than their predecessors and provide all the hot water you need. What’s more, our ENERGY STAR® models qualify for a federal tax credit of 30% up to a maximum of $1,500. We’d love to help you save that much money on a new or replacement system.
- Organic liquid drain cleaner. Heine Plumbing offers you Bio-Clean, a terrific drain cleaning product you can’t buy in stores. It’s more effective than any chemical drain cleaner, won’t harm or erode your pipes and causes no harm to the environment.
- We dispose of all job refuse in a legal manner, recycling all packaging and any other recyclable materials.
- Our diesel trucks are fuel efficient and stocked with hundreds of parts enabling us to complete most jobs in just one visit to your home, thereby minimizing wasted fuel.
Re-use Reduce, Recycle!
We all know recycling is important, but here are a few statistics that underscore us just HOW important it is to us now, and for generations to come!
- About 40% of the waste in the U.S. is paper, but nationwide we only recycle about 25-30% of our paper waste.
- Americans throw away close to the equivalent of 30 million trees a year, just from newsprint alone.
- In America we discard enough motor oil per year to fill 120 supertankers.
- Landfills are filling up and closing at the rate of approximately 2 a day.
-
A glass bottle thrown away today will still be there in the year 3000.
- In the United States, one in every six trucks is a garbage truck.
- You would be able to circle the earth 436 times per year with the Styrofoam cups that are used in the United States.
These statistics are accurate and valid; they help to illustrate the importance of recycling in the United States. Start taking an active role in helping your community recycle to better your environment and prevent global warming.
